The ‘Round-up for Charity’ fundraising mechanism, which allows consumers to make a small charitable donation each time they use their payment card, is now available on Banco Sabadell’s new Smart point-of-sale (PoS) terminals. The total amount raised will go to different social and environmental projects, which will change at regular intervals, led by NGOs or locally and internationally recognised businesses, as is the case with Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition. This new charitable feature offered by Banco Sabadell through its new PoS terminals is intended to support retailers with 20,000 Smart PoS in operation in the first year. The Smart PoS includes a wide range of applications, among them, this new way of democratising customers’ charitable contributions in a transparent, effective and simple way, with no preparatory effort required on the part of the retailer.
With this development, Banco Sabadell takes another step forward in its Commitment to Sustainability, by supporting businesses and retailers from a dual perspective. In the words of Albert Figueras, Assistant General Manager of Banco Sabadell: “we are helping our customers to move forward with their own digitisation with specialist solutions such as the Smart PoS, which incorporates applications specific to each sector and which also allows retailers to significantly improve their customers’ shopping experience”. In this respect, “working in partnership with partners such as Mastercard and Worldcoo, they form part of the Bank’s own commitment by supporting and accelerating the economic, social and environmental transformation needed to ensure a more sustainable future”.
More about Banco Sabadell’s Smart PoS
The Banco Sabadell Smart PoS incorporates some of the most cutting-edge technology on the market, integrating an Android operating system that allows applications to be installed in the terminal itself (just as we do with mobile phones). Users can connect over wifi or directly with 4G, it is much faster than any other terminal and incorporates a new payment module which allows the sales receipt to be sent by WhatsApp, by email or by generating a QR code to be scanned. Users can download and install applications from Sabadell Store, including an app to activate the charitable donations feature, an order-taking app so that catering businesses can take orders directly using the terminal, and retailers can include advertising messages on their receipts, carry out customer satisfaction surveys or split up a bill between several payers, among many other functionalities.
The development of the innovative features in this new PoS stems from an alliance between both companies with Mastercard, the international leader in payment means technology, and is backed by a firm commitment to foster sustainability and equip businesses and consumers to undertake sustainable actions together.
