Banco Sabadell’s physical and virtual shops now automatically accept any purchase made with cards on the Discover® Global Network displaying the Diners Club Internacional® and Discover® Network acceptance marks. The Bank has reached an agreement with Discover® Global Network, which has more than 280 million cards worldwide. It is also present in over 200 countries and territories.
Discover® Global Network provides acceptance for cardholders including Discover® Card from the United States, Diners club Internacional® with issuers in over 55 countries and over 25+ Alliance Partners from around the world such as: Elo from Brazil, RuPay from India and TROY from Turkey to name a few.
The built-in advantages of these cards strongly encourage their widespread use in foreign countries, wich is why most of the payments made with these cards in Spain originate from overseas travellers.
In the words of Albert Figueras, Deputy Director General and Director of Companies, Businesses and Self-Employed Workers at Banco Sabadell: “We have closed this agreement in a recovery environment for the tourism industry, a perfect time to incorporate new payment methods through our PoS terminals that make it easier for our customers to increase their sales”.
In terms of adoption, Banco Sabadell has a market share of 16.33%1 and has more than 440,000 PoS terminals, a very prominent footprint in the physical and virtual payment environment.

“Adding Banco Sabadell as an acquiring partner complements our strategy of creating worldwide partnerships that provide Discover® Global Network Cardholders with more choice when it comes to how they pay”, said Chris Winter, vice president of global acceptance at Discover. “As many of our cardholders are resuming international travel to Spain, we are looking forward to providing them with more opportunities to use their cards throughout the country”.
