The Board of Directors of Banco Sabadell and Zurich, partners in the 50/50 joint venture that sells insurance through Banco Sabadell's branch network, has appointed Bernardino Gómez Aritmendi as General Manager.

In the words of Bernardino Gómez Aritmendi: “it is hugely satisfying for me to lead this project and continue with the strategy to develop sustainable and profitable growth, where we put the customer first with a comprehensive range of insurance and savings products. Since its inception in 2008, Sabadell Seguros has become a strategic benchmark in the bancassurance market in Spain; this is reflected by the company’s evolution over those 14 years in business”.

Gómez Aritmendi joined the Zurich Group in 2009 and has occupied various positions since then, including his work as COO of Zurich Vida in Spain and seven years as Director of Customers, Operations, IT and Digital at Zurich Santander México, where he significantly increased sales, launched a successful savings business line, developed the digital business to achieve double-digit growth, and established Zurich Santander México as leader in sustainability through the provision of insurance for vulnerable groups.

Now he takes over from Claudio Chiesa, who will continue his career within the Zurich Group. Under his leadership, Sabadell Seguros has grown the business significantly, mainly on the strength of an enhanced customer value proposition and an innovative approach in data analytics, with the aim of improving the customer experience. It is also worth noting that the companies have grown while maintaining very sound solvency ratios (BSV 237% and BSSG 196% at year-end 2021).

During this time, Sabadell Seguros has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability, now and in the future, by once again putting people first.

The new General Manager of Sabadell Seguros has a degree in Economics specialised in Business and Finance from CUNEF University and a Masters degree in Finance and Management Control from IE Business School.
