Banco Sabadell’s new equality plan is now in place having been signed by 100% of the workers’ legal representatives. The document was signed yesterday, following months of negotiations, at the bank’s corporate headquarters in Sant Cugat del Vallès, with the participation of the bank’s ten trade union sections and management representatives: Miguel Montes, Head of Organisation and Resources, Ana Aller, Human Resources Director, and Maria Garcia Córdoba, Labour Relations Director.
In the words of Miguel Montes, “Banco Sabadell is making progress with its goal of embedding equality in the corporate culture, while fast-tracking the final implementation of equality and work-life balance among our staff”. Listen to all of the representatives’ statements in this video.
This equality plan is the first in the banking sector to adapt to the new legal requirements and, with it, the bank undertakes to reach 40% female representation in middle management and 30% in senior management by the end of the plan.
The document specifies various objectives, including, among others: fostering an organisational culture based on the principle of equal treatment and equal opportunities for men and women; preventing, correcting and penalising behaviour that is directly or indirectly discriminatory on gender grounds; ensuring the presence or balanced inclusion of women and men in all areas and at all professional levels, while integrating the perspective of gender into all spheres of activity; facilitating co-responsibility; and, preventing and reducing gender gaps in terms of both professional roles and remuneration. The annexes to the agreement include a protocol on the prevention of sexual or gender-based harassment in the workplace, as well as a guide on inclusive language.
