Zero evictions policy: 1,200 social rentals already negotiated
Miguel Montes, the bank’s general director, highlights Banco Sabadell’s sensitivity in the current circumstances. In this respect, he affirms: “We are very sensitive to what is happening, and proof of that is the fact that to date we have also negotiated and set up a total of 1,200 social housing rental contracts which have been taken up by as many families. I would also like to underline that, since the start of the crisis, Banco Sabadell has not carried out any forced repossessions or evictions of homes occupied by its customers.”
Banco Sabadell creates a new foundation
Meanwhile María José García Beato, the bank’s general secretary, has advanced that, with the aim of giving continuity to the social policies that the organisation has already been developing, “Banco Sabadell has decided to create a specific foundation, through which it will channel and structure the management of the entire pool of homes allocated to alleviating the situations of customers and families affected by housing problems.”
Today this pool includes a total of 2,083 homes distributed all around Spain, of which 1,200 are currently already part of a social housing rental scheme, while 250 homes are allocated to the Social Housing Scheme and 154 homes are being managed through different NGOs, “with which”, Garcia Beato affirms, “Banco Sabadell is cooperating to try to find solutions to the problems caused by housing in special situations of people and families who are highly vulnerable.”
